Star Wars' John Boyega Claims Anakin Is a Better Jedi Than Rey
Star Wars actor John Boyega has caused quite a stir on social media with a bold claim—namely, that Anakin Skywalker was a better Jedi than Rey.
Prepare the popcorn.
The Finn actor responded to an article arguing that a new Rise of Skywalker prequel proves Rey is (at least at this point in her training) more powerful than Anakin and Luke were at the same point, and is on her way to becoming the most powerful Jedi ever.
Writing in response, John tweeted: "I'm sorry guys but Anakin slapping all of us in a pit of lava. Including Kylo."
He later replied to a fan who noted Anakin couldn't defeat Obi-Wan Kenobi: "Obi is the OG but come on now you know Anakin is taking out guys."
While a raft of supporters—or 'Stanakins'—have come out to support the claim, there have been many detractors as well.
"WE LOVE A MAN WITH TASTE," one fan said, as another agreed: "You're amazing. And this is true."
"You really wanted to start ww3 didn't you," a separate follower wrote, while another added in no uncertain terms: "REY IS STRONGER THAN ANAKIN DELETE."
One also astutely noted: "Anakin couldn't beat the only other guy in the pit of lava...."
Meanwhile, while we try to avoid a galactic civil war, a new canon comic series has filled us all in on what Rey, Finn and Poe have all been up to since The Last Jedi.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a release date of Friday, December 20 in the US.
