Stanley Tucci Showed the Internet How to Make a Perfect Negroni, and Gave Us Hope in Troubled Times
It is utterly unsurprising that Stanely Tucci knows his way around a cocktail shaker. It is utterly sublime that he deigned to show us his ways.
On Tuesday, the actor shared a three-minute instructional video on Instagram, talking fans through every step of his preferred Negroni recipe. Likely filmed by his wife Felicity Blunt (this is quarantine, after all, and we hear a woman's voice throughout), the how-to has provided legions of Tucci's fans with not just practical cocktail knowledge, but a much-needed respite.
The actor and known internet thirst object began trending on Twitter after posting the delightful video, and it's not hard to see why. Tucci looks into the camera as he asks, "would you like one," allowing viewers all to pretend, for just a moment, that Stanley Tucci is lovingly preparing a Negroni just for us.
He then proceeds to get his glass of white wine, to keep nearby for refreshment, and explain that while most prefer the drink on the rocks, he'll be mixing it up (literally) (sorry). Tucci offers modifications for varied tastes (if you don't like gin, replace with vodka and just "lace it" with gin), advice for specific spirits (Martini brand vermouth is "not good"), and fun facts (Negroni is the "ubiquitous Milanese cocktail").
By the time he's finishing up, pouring his mixture into a coup glass and garnishing it with a pre-sliced orange, a curious calm sets in, as if Stanley Tucci has emptied your anxiety along with his shaker.
