Spot the Loch Ness Monster From Bed in This Cozy Scottish Cottage
The legend of the Loch Ness Monster has been around for almost a century. The monster, said to live at the bottom of Scotland’s Loch Ness, has been the highlight of sensational news stories ever since it was “photographed” in 1933.
An estimated 1 million people visit Loch Ness every year, attempting to spot the famed creature. And although it may seem like those who want to spot the monster will have to rough it, there’s another option for those who prefer something a bit more domestic: A cozy two-bedroom cottage above the lake has recently undergone a renovation. Now visitors can attempt to spot Nessie from the comfort of their front yard.
The cottage, named Strone Castle Cottage, is perched on a hill overlooking the lake. Television documentaries about the lake and its famous inhabitant have been shot from the cottage because of its unique vantage point, according to the owners.
The cottage underwent a complete refurbishment last year. It has been updated with modern appliances to make sure Nessie spotters are comfortable while they watch the lake. There’s a kitchen with Rangemaster oven, a large fireplace and handmade Scottish furniture, complete with unique tartans.
The property also overlooks Urquhart Castle, a historic landmark of the Scottish Highlands that dates back more than 1,000 years.
The Strone Castle Cottage is available from $785 (£580) per week.
