A Source Close to Pete Davidson Claims Kanye West Didn’t “Drive Him Off Social Media”
Another update in the whole “Pete Davidson joined Instagram and then quit Instagram” thing, sigh. Amid Kanye West posting yesterday that he “ran” Pete “off the ’gram” along with a screenshot of Pete’s old @pmd page, a source close to the Saturday Night Live star tells Page Six that Pete’s reason for quitting had nothing to do with Ye.
“Pete deleted his IG because immediately after his first post, he started receiving a flood of messages, both positive and negative, reminding him why he didn’t want social media to begin with,” the source said. “[Pete] is in the middle of several big film projects and wants to continue to stay very focused on his work and the positive things happening in his life.”
They then added, “Kanye didn’t drive Pete off social media.”
Pete has recently made it clear that he’s not a huge user of social media in general, telling People, “Well, I don’t really have Instagram—I don’t have Instagram or Twitter or any of that stuff. So most of my daily life is getting into cars and showing up to a set. Or if I’m off, I just either hang with my friends or chill with my girlfriend inside. So I don’t do much.”
Meanwhile, a source also recently told E! News that Pete doesn’t “want to get involved or be in the middle of Kim and Kanye. He supports Kim with whatever she needs and they try not to focus on it.”
