Disclaimer: You don’t need to take our opinions as gospel, but we try to be as fair as possible while still acknowledging that everyone has different tastes.
Also, some of these foods were a tad bit pricey for what they are, so that’s one of the reasons we made an honorable mentions category. If you’re going to try something and pay a hefty amount for it, refer to the foods in our favorites!
Favorite/unique foods: Something salty
Fruity Pebble Shrimp Pineapple Bowl — 8.5/10
Price: $18
Fruity Pebble Shrimp Pineapple Bowl
Fruity Pebble Shrimp Pineapple Bowl for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Upon reading the name of this food item, you may experience a spin in your head, wondering, “What the heck is a Fruity Pebble Shrimp Pineapple Bowl?” Well, don’t worry. It’s exactly how it reads. This surprisingly tasty meal features an entire pineapple half with a scoop of rice, fried shrimp, fried pineapple chunks, hibachi sauce and Fruity Pebbles cereal sprinkled on top.
First of all, the presentation of this item gets a 10/10 itself. The aesthetic of the pineapple mixed with the vibrant colors of the cereal is what made this bowl attractive and photo-worthy. Taste-wise, we would have to give it an 8.5/10. We will say, too, this will definitely fill you up and make the price worth it. The Fruity Pebbles added a much-needed crunch, and the hibachi sauce on top of the fried shrimp was packed with flavor. This dish is proof that you need not judge a book by its title.
Hot Cheeto Korean corn dog with cheese — 9/10
Price: $16
Hot Cheeto corn dog
A Hot Cheeto corn dog for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
This definitely has a little kick to it, but if you’re a fan of Cheetos Flamin’ Hot flavor, you just might fall in love with this. It’s essentially a corn dog filled with mozzarella cheese and coated on the outside with Cheeto dust.
The cheese inside adds another layer of flavor and texture to the snack, while simultaneously ensuring that it’s something different from just your classic fair corn dog. It can be a little messy to eat, though, and tough to tear apart with your fork, so that bumps it down for us a little bit.
Mexican street corn pizza — 8/10
Price: $10
Pickle and Mexican street corn pizza
Pickle pizza, front left, and Mexican street corn pizza for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Frontier Park offers many special flavors of pizza this year, including the pickle pizza that’s been there in years past, but this year’s newest flavor is Mexican street corn pizza.
After taking the first bite, we agreed that this tasted eerily similar to corn casserole. The corn flavor was definitely prominent, and the sauce on top added a nice tangy flavor. The elote flavor could’ve and should’ve been stronger, but one thing is for sure: this should definitely become a staple at CFD.
Favorite/unique foods: Something sweet
Minnecookie-cookie dough pie with vanilla ice cream — 10/10
Price: $13
Deep fried cookie dough pie and vanilla ice cream
Deep fried cookie dough pie and vanilla ice cream for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Like the classic à la mode pies everyone knows and loves, this warms the soul and cools the tongue at the same time.
CFD offers apple and blueberry pies, as well, but the cookie dough flavor was a new addition this year. The cookie dough filling was warmed up, and the pie had a great crust-to-filling ratio. The crust itself also wasn’t overly dry and flaky, which was a big bonus. In contrast with the cold ice cream, this combo was positively divine. On a hot day, this could be a surprising go-to.
Watermelon agua fresca — 7/10
Price: $12
Watermelon Agua Fresca
Watermelon Agua Fresca for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet that will mentally transport you to a tropical beach vacation and cool you off at the same time, this is the drink for you. The watermelon agua fresca is a watermelon-flavored drink with a jelly-like mixture of chamoy and tajin lining the rim of the cup.
Upon taking that first sip, you’re immediately met with a beautiful pairing of the sweet watermelon drink, and the mixture that is somehow sweet, salty and spicy all at the same time. It’s equally refreshing as it is intricate. However, it can be one of those drinks that gets less enjoyable the more sips you take.
Honorable mentions
Now, just because these aren’t in our top picks doesn’t mean there weren’t other things worth mentioning. Whether that be because of their eccentric or aesthetic look or their unique flavor, we couldn’t ignore the rarities that Fun Biz brings to the table
SWEET/SPICY: Watermelon fruit rollup — 7/10
Price: $10
If you ever kept up with the chamoy pickle trend on TikTok or know what that is, this is basically that with a slice of watermelon. The fruit is wrapped in a fruit rollup, which is then coated in chamoy and tajin.
SALTY/SAVORY: Turkey leg — 8/10
Price: $20
Yes, we know. You can find a turkey leg at any state/county fair. However, that’s what made it such an asset to this list. Sometimes it’s good to go back to the basics. This one, especially, was the perfect amount of juicy and flavorful. We took one point off because the skin was just a tad tough to bite through, but nothing a girl on a mission couldn’t handle.
SWEET: Pineapple & strawberry/lemon swirl Tasti Whip — 7/10
Price: $10
A classic twist on the Dole Whip that remains one of the most iconic Disney World and Disneyland foods of all time. They have strawberry, lemon, mango and pineapple. You can swirl pineapple and mango, or strawberry and lemon, and even drink them as floats! Alyssa disagrees with the rating, but it’s OK to be wrong.
“Dishonorable” mentions
This is not a diss on any food, they just weren’t our favorites, but we still feel like out of all the unique foods offered at Frontier Park, they were the weaker of the pack.
SALTY: Tater dog — 5/10
Price: $10
Tater dog
A tater dog for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Generally kind of hard to eat. This looks aesthetic, but beyond that, it was just OK. The potatoes didn’t add anything more than a slight crunch, and the hot dog was smokier than desired, but if that’s your cup of tea, then cheers.
SWEET/SALTY: Donut chicken sandwich — 6/10
Price: $16
Donut chicken sandwich
A donut chicken sandwich for sale in the Fun Biz Food Court in Frontier Park on Monday, July 22, 2024.
We were 50/50 on this, but if you like McGriddles and chicken and waffles, then this combo is for you. The donuts are soft, the chicken isn’t dry. However, we’re personally not fans of sweet and salty here, so this is going in the (lighthearted) dishonorable mentions category.
