As a judge on America's Got Talent and the founder of the skincare line Toty, Sofia Vergara seems on top of the world. However, the Modern Family actress recently reflected on her "very difficult" year following her split from Joe Manganiello.
On Thursday, Nov. 16, Vergara, 51, spoke with People at her Toty Transforma AHA (a retexturing serum) launch.
“I’ve had a very interesting year,” she told the publication. ”I don’t want to say ‘bad’ or anything like that, but it’s been very interesting and very difficult.”
Vergara added: “I went through a divorce this year, the SAG strike that went on for so long. I’ve seen my friends struggle — some had to take their kids out of their schools or had problems with their mortgages, so it’s been a weird, weird year.”

On July 17, Vergara and Manganiello announced their separation in a joint statement.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce," they told Page Six. "As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
Still, with a new Netflix show, Griselda, premiering in January and her ever-expanding Toty offerings—not to mention enjoying casual date nights post-divorce—Vergara has much to look forward to in 2024.
“It’s not like it’s bad,” she told People. “I think all the things are resolving, everything is going to be okay and I’m very excited for next year.”
