Social media praises Beyoncé for buying out Ivy Park co-owner accused of abuse: 'Put respect on my check'
Beyoncé demands respect in her check — and in her company.
In recent weeks, the singer’s Ivy Park business partner Sir Philip Green has been accused of sexual harassment and racial abuse. The billionaire behind brands such as Topshop categorically denies the claims, telling the U.K. Daily Mail, “I’m being used as target practice when there is zero [evidence] that anyone has turned up with.”
In light of the allegations, Beyoncé has made the bold decision to buy out Green’s stake in her athleisure clothing line through her company Parkwood Entertainment, making her the sole owner of the brand.
In a statement, the Ivy Park brand said, “After discussions of almost a year, Parkwood has acquired 100% of the Ivy Park brand. Topshop/Arcadia will fulfill the existing orders.”
Beyoncé launched the brand at Topshop, in March 2016 sharing 50 percent of its stakes with the British tycoon. The brand has always stood for inclusivity, using spokesmodels such as actresses Yara Shahidi and Laverne Cox and Haitian immigrant Ralph Souffrant in campaigns.
Green, Arcadia Group’s owner, has not only been accused of inflicting verbal abuse and inappropriate behavior on ex-employees. In recent weeks, Green has also been accused of attempting to block publication of the allegations that he says he “categorically and wholly denies.”
Beyoncé’s decision to cut ties with Green makes a strong statement about how seriously she takes the allegations. In yet another power move by the Queen herself, Beyoncé once again proves she practices what she preaches. And the internet is here for it. Read all the best reactions to her “boss moves” below:
