This Simple Hack Will Bring Your Dying Hydrangeas Back to Life
Can’t seem to keep your cut hydrangeas looking full and alive for long? Get ready for the easiest solution to your flower struggle: All you need to do is place the flowers face down in a bowl of water overnight, and they’ll look as though they just bloomed.
TikToker @oliviacholivia shared a video of her florist husband explaining how to save sad, dying hydrangeas. When a hydrangea is cut, displayed in a vase, and looking quite lifeless, turn the flower upside down and completely submerge its head into a bowl of water overnight. “Hydrangeas are one of the only flowers that actually absorb water through the petal,” the florist said in the video.
People are completely shocked in the comments. One person brought up a valid question, though: Why bother putting the hydrangeas in a vase with water if they absorb water through their petals? To that, the florist shared that the flowers still soak up water through the bottom but more so through the petals. IMO, it’s probably best to use the overnight trick for a refresh and continue displaying them in a pretty vase. Another person asked if misting the flowers regularly would keep them from wilting, too. The TikToker hasn't responded to that comment with any advice from her florist husband, but that method seems like a solid alternative.
If you've steered clear of hydrangeas because they die on you too quickly, this is the solution you've been waiting for. You can now buy up all of the hydrangeas you desire!
