Shhh! Cillian Murphy Is Joining Emily Blunt in ‘A Quiet Place 2’
Cillian Murphy better start watching as many silent movies as possible, because the 42-year-old actor is in talks to star in A Quiet Place 2.
Murphy is reportedly joining the cast of the highly anticipated sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While Paramount hasn’t revealed any further details, we do know he’ll play a “mysterious man” who stumbles upon the Abbott family. (If we learned anything from Netflix’s Bird Box: Trust no one.)
Similar to the original movie, A Quiet Place 2 will be written and directed by John Krasinski (The Office). Unfortunately, the 39-year-old actor won’t star in the sequel, since (spoiler alert!) his character, Lee, was killed in the first film. Womp, womp.
Nevertheless, Emily Blunt (Evelyn), Noah Jupe (Marcus) and Millicent Simmonds (Regan) are all confirmed to reprise their roles in the follow-up film, so ready thy noise-free snacks.
A Quiet Place hit theaters exactly one year ago and immediately made headlines for its record-breaking opening weekend. (It raked in more than $50 million at the box office, making it the most profitable debut in the history of original horror films.)
The movie follows a family who lives in a post-apocalyptic world, where their survival depends on their ability to be quiet. Gulp.
Will Murphy help the Abbott family escape the noise-targeting monsters? Or will he act as a villain, ultimately putting their safety at risk? Guess we’ll have to wait until A Quiet Place 2 hits theaters on May 15, 2020.
