Senior home takes a shot at TikTok: ‘the Hype House in 50 years’
The party never stops at Westhill Park. The residents at the senior care home in the U.K. prove that the fun doesn’t have to stop because you’re getting older.
Westhill Park’s TikTok is dedicated to dancing, carefree seniors and it’s kind of lit AF. There’s no shortage of cool grandpas, gray-haired baddies grooving to Megan THEE Stallion and timeless swing and hip-hop mashups.
The seniors went viral in July for their chair choreography to KyleYouMadeThat’s “All About Cake,” a remix of the Rihanna classic “Cake.”
“All about cake! Our residents enjoyed this one!” the caption states.
In the clip, a group of Westhill Park seniors sit in (socially-distanced) chairs because this choreography is all about the hands. The residents do a fairly intricate number featuring claps, elbow jabs and quick finger movements. They absolutely crushed it.
The video garnered 6.5 million views on TikTok. A lot of people said Westhill Park is the future of Hype House, a collective of TikTok personalities and creators. Yes, Gen Z is inspired.
“Hype House in 2060,” one person wrote.
“The Hype House in 50 years,” someone commented.
“When I grow up, I want to be like them,” another user added.
Westhill Park makes sure to provide its residents with activities every day of the week. Recreational fun to stimulate the mind, body and soul is a staple. Everything from chair yoga and dance to brain training and Tai-Chi keeps these seniors feeling good.
