Selena Gomez Sends Message of Support in Statement Shirt Following Demi Lovato's Apparent Overdose
Following her close friend Demi Lovato's apparent drug overdose on Tuesday, Selena Gomez was spotted grabbing breakfast with friends while wearing a graphic shirt that had "Keep the faith" written across the back.
Selena and Demi first met on the set of Barney and Friends when they were kids, and have had a close-albeit rocky-friendship ever since. E! reports that Selena is distraught about Demi's condition, with a source saying "When Selena found out the news about Demi, she was very upset and emotional."
The source adds that the pair "haven't been close friends in a while now, but they always shared a special bond and they still have love for one another," while a People source says "Demi reached out when Selena had her kidney transplant. They will always care a lot for each other and Selena will be there for her friend."
Selena herself hasn't commented publicly on Demi (minus this shirt, which seems to send a clear message) but E!'s source says "Selena has reached out to Demi's family members to share her love and prayers, and she is really distraught about her health. She hates that Demi has been suffering."
Meanwhile, Selena's mom Mandy Teefey has commented publicly on Demi's apparent overdose, sharing a photo of Selena and Demi celebrating Selena's sixteenth birthday with the caption, "This was exactly 10 yrs ago at S, Sweet 16. @ddlovato we love you. The world is a better place because of these infectious smiles. My heart hurts."
