Selena Gomez Seemingly Puts Drew Taggart Dating Rumors to Rest in New TikTok
On January 16, Us Weekly reported that there was a new love in in Selena Gomez’s life. The outlet claimed that the Only Murders in the Building star was dating Andrew “Drew” Taggart from the EDM DJ and production duo, The Chainsmokers. In the subsequent print issue of US Weekly published at the end of January, a source exclusively revealed that Selena and Drew "have an amazing connection." They explained that the two are "both very into each other" as Taggart is "such a nice guy" and Selena "loves that about him."
"They're so happy to have gone with their guts and jumped in to give this a try," continued the source.
The last direct relationship status update that Selena gave was on January 19. Per Cosmopolitan, Selena took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to share a black-and-white image that read “I like being alone too much.” In the bottom right-hand corner, she added, “#iamsingle.” The post was soon deleted, but stayed up long enough for some of Sel’s 372 million followers to see the statement.
In Us Weekly’s initial report, insiders spilled exclusive deets about Sel and Drew’s supposed ’ship. “They aren’t trying to hide their romance by sneaking around at members-only clubs,” a source shared with the outlet. They were “very casual and low-key” and “go bowling and to the movies” for date nights. The actress was reportedly “so affectionate” with her new partner and could “hardly keep her hands off him.” The insider also added that they were “having a lot of fun together.”
One suspected date night took place on Sunday, January 15. Per photos obtained by Page Six, Selena and Drew were spotted bowling at The Gutter in New York City, marking their first public outing together since the romance rumors surfaced. It seemed to be a casual outing, with Sel dressed in a dark sweater and pants, and Drew in a camo long-sleeve and pants. In the pics, Selena showed off her bowling skills as Drew looked on. According to onlookers, the couple was reportedly “making out.”
“There was also a group of young girls that went up for pictures from her shortly after and a man getting an autograph,” one insider shared with the outlet. Page Six reported that when reached for comment, Selena’s reps did not respond. Meanwhile, Drew’s team had “no comment.”
However, it's still unclear where their rumored relationship stands. Selena posted a funny TikTok video on March 15, where she lip-synced to a sound that says "I hate it when girls are like, 'Oh my gosh, my crush doesn't even know that I exist.'" She then changed her expression and mouthed the rest of the audio, which said, "Girl, my crush doesn't even exist!"
She seemingly hinted at her relationship status in the post's caption, writing, "Still out here lookin for him lol."
News of Sel and Drew’s rumored relationship came months after the Golden Globe-nominated actress was linked to Italian-Canadian producer Andrea Iervolino. Late last summer, Selena was spotted aboard a yacht with Andrea and several other friends while celebrating her 30th birthday in Italy.
Taggart most recently dated Steve Jobs’ youngest daughter, Eve Jobs. According to Us Weekly, the model and the EDM artist began dating as a “casual summer fling” and grew closer throughout the summer, before calling it quits in a “totally amicable” split. Drew has also been linked to Meredith Mickelson, Haley Row, and Chantel Jeffries.
