Saturday's bike ride offers a mini tour of Downriver

NEW BOSTON — The third annual Tour de Tom Bike Ride will take place June 8. The tour will depart at 9 a.m. Saturday from downtown New Boston. Registration is still open.

The tour is hosted by Destination Downriver and "Under the Radar Michigan."

"This year, the tour will feature a sampling of a few Huron-Clinton Metroparks, while raising funds for the Downriver Linked Greenways and waterway development projects," event organizers said.

"Tom will once again pedal with riders along paved trailways beside the Huron River and through scenic Lower Huron and Willow Metroparks," organizers said. "Riders will experience great scenery through stretches of the metroparks and have an opportunity to sample cool rural sections of western Wayne County’s most charming tree-lined, riverfront trails. Tom and Jim will also do a book signing and socialize at Doc’s at 11 a.m., after the ride."

The cost is $55 a person. A vendor market and ice cream also will follow the ride.
