Sarah Hyland Reveals Wells Adams Asked Her "Modern Family" Parents for Their Blessing Before Proposing
Wells Adams ended up going above and beyond before proposing to then-GF Sarah Hyland.
In the Modern Family special, A Modern Farewell, that aired right before the series finale, Sarah revealed that Wells not only asked her real parents, but also her on-screen mom and dad for their blessing before popping the big question.
"When my fiancé proposed, he asked my mom and dad for their blessing. Then he also hunted down Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell for their blessing," she said. "They really, really are like my second set of parents."
She also talked about her co-stars who helped make up the Dunphy family in the series.
"I look at Ariel and Nolan and sometimes I want to wring their necks. And, other times, I want to squish them until they die because I love them," she said jokingly. " Julie's been a big sister. She's been a guardian angel at times."
Modern Family ended its run on April 8 after 250 episodes and 11 seasons. Sarah previously opened up to Seventeen about saying goodbye to the show and how much she's changed while being on it.
"I started off as an 18-year-old and then ending it as a woman turning 30 this year and getting married soon, you know, I went from a teen to a woman. I'm very grateful for having been on the show for those formative years," she told Seventeen. "I was so focused on work that I didn't really have the time to you know, f*ck up like a lot of other women in their 20s have, especially in their early 20s."
With the series officially over, she can finally focus on her wedding plans and some brand new projects that she's working on.
"I'm horrible at this. I need prioritize things better, but right now I'm just really focused on work. We're ending the last season of Modern Family, so we really haven't gotten into a lot of things," she said about her wedding planning. "I'm also developing a show right now, a pilot, that we sold to ABC. So I'm really excited for that. I can't say too much about it, so just knock on wood and hope that it gets picked up cause mama has a wedding to plan and I need a job!"
