Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Says She'll Make an 'Excellent' Grandmother
Queen Elizabeth already has seven great-grandchildren, including little Prince Louisand the newborn Lena Tindall, but if it were up to Sarah Ferguson, she'd have eight in the near future.
Fergie's daughter Princess Eugenie isn't even getting married until later this fall, but the Duchess of York is already thinking about grandchildren. In a rare interview with the BBC about her work with the Children in Crisis charity, Fergie was asked if she would make a good grandmother. She reportedly replied, "Excellent-I used to write children’s books, and I am a child, I haven’t grown up."
According to Hello!, Fergie also said that she'll be "the best" mother-in-law to Eugenie's fiancé Jack Brooksbank. "The good news is Jack also works as the European Manager for Casamigos Tequila, so I am perfect," she said.
In recent weeks, more and more details have come out about the October 12 royal nuptials. Like her cousin Harry, Princess Eugenie has invited members of the public to celebrate inside the Windsor Castle grounds, and she and Jack will take a carriage ride around town after the ceremony. In a new interview with British Vogue, Eugenie also revealed that she hopes her wedding will be plastic-free, like her home at Kensington Palace.
"Eugenie is very controlled-she is so sorted. She knows exactly what she wants," Ferguson reportedly said in the BBC interview. "Jack and Eugenie are very contemporary, they are very inclusive, and they are all about love, and they want this wedding to be about that-to include everybody and to really absorb the love they have for each other with everybody else."
While Eugenie has shared that she's "not stressed at all" about the big day, Fergie is anticipating that it could be emotional.
"I do understand why mothers cry at weddings now. All my life I thought, 'Oh, what’s she crying for?' It’s lovely, it’s a great day."
