“The beautiful thing about working in a creative industry are the kindred spirits you meet along the way. Brands and people who find their way to each other through shared values for craft, sustainability and excellence,” said Sabyasachi. “Morgenthal Frederics is not just a luxury eyewear maker, they’re a legendary American institution who have been around since 1913 and who make heirloom quality pieces of art. I have long been a customer and it’s now my privilege to celebrate them with you.”
The creative and the eyewear brand worked closely to come up with three styles: the Sudder, the Tolly and the 74. Each frame is made from natural materials paired with Japanese titanium.
“It has truly been an honor to collaborate with Sabyasachi — a global force in today’s fashion world,” Edward Beiner, chief executive officer of New Look Vision Group U.S., parent of Morgenthal Frederics, said in a statement. “Our shared vision on the art of craftsmanship comes from a passion and understanding that true luxury is not a mere commodity. Together, Sabyasachi x Morgenthal Frederics elevates the artistry of handcrafted eyewear.”
Known for his intricate gowns, Sabyasachi has previously collaborated on pieces with H&M, Christian Louboutin, Starbucks and Williams-Sonoma. To mark the eyewear collection, the designer is throwing a party Thursday night at his West Village store in Manhattan, also marking the location’s one-year anniversary.
The limited-edition frames, which retail for $695 for the Sudder and $1,595 for both the Tolly and 74, debut Thursday across all Sabyasachi flagships and Morgenthal Frederics boutiques.
