Ryan Williams Injured Trying To Flip Big Wheel Bicycle
When the Pennyfarthing was invented in 1871, doing backflips on them was not a priority. Hey, back then commuting that quickly was a marvel!
Over 150 years later Ryan Williams set out to change that. Watch him almost land a backflip on a Pennyfarthing below.
In this video, Williams drops down the ramp and floats a backflip. He lands perfectly and rolls down but even then, his weight shifts forward and throws him over the bars.
In this case, his perfect landing hurt him more. Had he crashed earlier he would have landed on the softer part landing. Instead, he finally hit the ground after most of the padding.
This is a good reason for slacker head tube angles. Had the front wheel of the bike been further forward, Ryan would not have so easily been tossed over the bars.
Williams is BMX pro and a participant in Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus. He is known for pushing the limits with all kinds of creative tricks.
