Running has helped me overcome obstacles and hurdles I never thought I could. I was mostly overweight my entire life and running has helped changed that. I’ve fallen in love with myself all over again because I now know if I can run, I can do anything. I started running one night in 2015 during Christmas break without stopping—the first mile I’d run in my entire life. From there I discovered a newfound love and I have been running ever since.
I now motivate myself to run. It is my moving meditation, my happy place, and where I get to spend time with myself. I love running early in the mornings when most of the world is still sleep and I have the entire place to myself. Running not only makes me feel powerful but it makes me feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. It makes me feel invincible and I am proud to say I am a runner.
I love running trails and there is a cool route by my house where I am surrounded by bunnies and birds who happen to be around every time I go for a run. It has quite a few hills so I love getting these inclines in towards the end of my route. It feels like I stepped into a peaceful forest even though it’s in the city. It’s quiet, serene, and full of nature as I connect with myself and let go of all the worries or tasks for the day. I focus solely on running on this trail and it is one of the best feelings in the world to me.
There are several things I have on a run. Firstly, my Apple Watch is my go-to gear to track my runs. I use RunKeeper. It’s my favorite running app. I also wear my AirPods so I can jam out to some tunes. Or, if I’m running without music, to block out the city noise when I run the streets. I also am in love with my Nike Pegasus Turbo 2 running shoes. They make me feel as if I’m running on clouds and they are the best running shoes I own.
I’m a full-time lifestyle blogger and I enjoy writing young adult stories in my free time.
To run my first marathon in 2022.
