Royal wedding cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason wins two Classic Brit Awards
The 19-year-old cellist who played at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding has won two Classic Brit awards.
Sheku Kanneh-Mason picked up male artist of the year and the critics' choice award at the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall last night.
Markle called the teenage prodigy personally to ask him to play at the royal wedding last month. She had heard of Kanneh-Mason after he became the first black winner of the BBC Young Musician competition in 2016.
Other winners at the Classic Brits were Dame Vera Lynn, 101, who got the lifetime achievement award, and Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, who were together named group of the year. Ball and Boe's Together Again was awarded album of the year. The Greatest Showman won new category Soundtrack of the Year.
