Rottweiler Mom Gives Birth to an Amazing Litter of 16 Puppies
A dog mom knew that her Rottweiler was expecting puppies, but she was expecting anywhere between six and eight pups.
So when her dog just kept birthing them, she was shocked. In total, the dog gave birth to 16 Rottweiler pups.
Seeing all of the puppies together is such a treat. There are just so many of them! Mama dog needed a little help with feedings, so her mom bottle fed the puppies to supplement.

The sheer number of puppies this dog gave birth to is so incredible. She’s such a good mom, too, always tending to the pups. Luckily, the mama dog has her own mom’s help in raising the litter.
As the puppies grow up, they all look so adorable. The clip of them all in the tub is especially sweet!
It must be so bittersweet knowing that you can’t possibly keep all of the pups for yourself. We hope that the new owners of the puppies will stay in touch so that they can all celebrate birthdays together.
Record-Breaking Litter
While this litter of Rotties is definitely a large one, it doesn’t quite beat the world record for largest litter of puppies. The largest litter belonged to a Neapolitan Mastiff named Tia with 24 puppies.
Can you imagine having to look after that many puppies as a mother dog? She definitely needed the help of humans to look after all of those puppies. They probably needed help being fed too, so bottle feeding was likely necessary.
Raising puppies must be such a joy to experience. They rely on their mom for everything and grow into wonderful young pups eager to explore the world. It must be rather heartbreaking to rehome them to their new families, but 24 pups at once would definitely be too much.
Large breed dogs are more likely to have large litter sizes than smaller pups like Chihuahuas. Breeds like Great Danes and Mastiffs will likely have litter sizes over ten puppies.
While Rottweilers are not a super large breed, they can clearly yield a lot of puppies! This dog mom definitely had her work cut out for her. She said in the comments that every morning, she would wake to find the puppies covered in their own waste and they would need to all be given baths.
We can’t imagine having to bathe 16 wiggly puppies every single day! That was definitely a feat that this woman should feel proud of. Raising that many dogs at one time is not for the faint of heart!
