Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Just Snuck into the 2023 Golden Globes Ceremony
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky pulled a power move at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.
The couple quietly skipped the red carpet, instead heading straight into The Beverly Hilton for the start of the ceremony. Eagle-eyed fans shared footage on social media of the two making their grand arrival while The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge was in the midst of presenting an award.
Unsurprisingly, first-time Golden Globe nominee Rihanna turned heads in a jaw-dropping look composed of a custom Schiaparelli gown. The inky black, velvet dress featured a voluminous, cloudlike stole that dreamily framed her silhouette. She swept her hair up into an elegant, gelled-back bun. Meanwhile, Rocky looked suave in a classic tuxedo.

The singer's song "Lift Me Up," the track featured in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that marked her return to music for the first time in six years, is nominated tonight in the category of Best Original Song. She joins fellow nominees Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, who have been nominated for their tracks, "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick and "Carolina" from Where the Crawdads Sing, respectively.
Rihanna celebrated her first Golden Globe nomination on Twitter last month, writing in a tweet, "God be showin out! ?????? @goldenglobes."
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about getting Rihanna to create new music for the second installation of the Marvel franchise. He reportedly wanted the closing song to not only honor the memory of leading star Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020, but to also reflect the experience of parenthood. (Rihanna recently welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with boyfriend A$AP Rocky in May 2022.)
"It's her experience with loss in there, and her being a mother. She's a new person now. [Parenthood] changes you to your core. I hear it in her voice. It's her, but it's a new her," Coogler told the outlet.
