Ridley Scott and James Cameron Love Alien: Romulus
The thrilling first trailer for Alien: Romulus landed yesterday and had fans of the franchise buzzing about the upcoming addition to a narrative that's seen entries for legendary directors Ridley Scott and James Cameron.
This chapter is told by director Fede Alvarez, whose previous films include Evil Dead and 2022's Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Starring Isabela Merced, Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, David Jonsson, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu, Alien: Romulus follows a group of young people from a distant world who end up face to face with a Xenomorph in the space station.
Although the film was meant to be a straight-to-streaming release on Hulu, early in the process - Alvarez told The Hollywood Reporter - the decision switched to "F**k it, we're going into theaters with this".
The decision was a good one, it appears, as the film has the Ridley Scott and James Cameron stamp of approval. Scott, also a producer on the film, told Alvarez, "what can I say? It's f*****g great" (as per The Hollywood Reporter).
Alvarez also divulged to THR that "[Cameron and Scott's] notes and comments are completely different" and that James Cameron has "now seen the movie and loved it."
Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 16.
