Rescued from lab, 4 beagles enjoy playful reunion in Beaver County
CHIPPEWA TWP. ― Four of the Envigo beagles met up for playtime recently in Beaver County.
They were among the 4,000 beagles rescued in 2022 from a Virginia laboratory in the biggest dog rescue in U.S. history.
Holly Hannum of Chippewa Township adopted one beagle, Dexter, from the Beaver County Humane Society, while Amy Zurynski of Center Township adopted another, Milo. Research by Zurynski, based on an Envigo Beagle rescue Facebook page, found those two beagles were siblings and a third sibling beagle, Mike, was now living with the McKeel family in Monaca, Hannum said.
The three sibling beagles reunited a few weekends ago for a playtime reunion joined by their momma, Roo, visiting from an adopted family in Virginia. Another sibling, sister, Polly, said hello via Facetime from Spokane, Wash.
"The beagles are thriving and living their best lives with loving families who adopted them and rescued them from the testing they would have endured by living in the laboratory in Virginia," Hannum said.
