I Refuse to Wear Makeup While WFH, But These 2 Products Make Me Feel Zoom-Ready in Seconds
Pre-social distancing, I had a pretty speedy makeup routine that consisted of BB cream, blush, highlighter, an eyebrow gel/pencil combo and mascara. But now that my childhood bedroom has become my office, even a touch of makeup feels excessive. Why waste the product when no one (aside from my parents) is actually going to see it?
Turns out the video quality on Zoom and Google Hangouts is much clearer than I expected, and the lime green walls of my room make me look exhausted (even though the nine hours of sleep I’m getting per night would say otherwise). So, before my last video meeting I dug into my makeup for two of my desert island beauty products: brow gel to fluff my naturally thick brows and an eyelash curler to make me look more awake. Once I used both, I felt 100 times more presentable and it took all of ten seconds.
Here, copy my super simple, two-step WFH beauty routine.

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
I wrote an ode to this clear brow mascara in the past, and my feelings for it have not waned a bit. While my typical routine also includes a few swipes of a pencil to fill in sparse areas, I find that brushing my hairs up and setting them in place with this gel still makes a huge difference. The brush itself is stiff, making it easy to reach even the finest hair, and so big that it resembles an eyelash mascara wand rather than the typically miniscule brow spoolies. Plus, the formula doesn’t have a waxy finish or leave flaky bits all over my face. It keeps my brows in place (even during a streaming workout), until I decide to wash it off.
2. Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler
Yes, mascara helps to lengthen and plump, but I find it’s unnecessary, thanks to my beloved GradeLASH-MD Lash Enhancing Serum which has added lots volume to my lashes. That’s why I just use just a curler. This particular one from Kevyn Aucoin grips every hair without pinching, making my eyes water or leaving a harsh, unnatural crimp. And the pad on the inside is bright red, so it’s easy to make sure all my lashes are in place before applying pressure. It just takes a few second hold on each side to create a wide-eyed, Zoom-ready look (without a single swipe of product).
