Reebok Uses Iconic Alternate NBA Jerseys to Inspire Its Upcoming Pack of Question and Kamikaze Shoes
Reebok has a trio of classic basketball shoes coming soon dressed in hues that are an homage to fan-favorite alternate uniforms from the 1990s and 2000s.
For the Reebok “Alternates” collection, the athletic brand reimagined its Kamikaze 2 silhouette and gave its Question Mid two new looks.
One of the first two sneakers to drop on Nov. 20 is NBA icon Allen Iverson’s debut signature sneaker, the Question Mid, in a “Black/Gold” colorway. The look is inspired by the Philadelphia 76ers jerseys from the 1997-98 season that sported black, beige and red color blocking.
Also arriving on Nov. 20 is the Kamikaze 2 “Black/Green/Red,” which is a nod to the alternate jerseys worn by retired NBA great Shawn Kemp and his Seattle Supersonics.
The third look is the Question Mid “Yellow Toe.” The sneaker, which was first seen on the court on the feet of Los Angeles Lakers guard Quinn Cook during the NBA 2020 playoffs, is an homage to the team’s all-white alternates jerseys. Reebok has not yet confirmed the release info.
The Reebok “Alternates” collection will be available via Reebok.com.
Aside from unveiling three new shoes, Reebok announced a partnership with StandUp for Kids, which the brand said will help the nonprofit’s efforts to provide funding, support and resources to at-risk homeless youth. Reebok said it chose to team up with StandUp for Kids up in recognition of National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.
For the partnership, Reebok joined forces with WNBA veteran Tamera Young to give sneakers and funding to the nonprofit. Young has plans to visit the StandUp for Kids chapter in Atlanta on Nov. 17 to meet with high school athlete volunteers and help sort Reebok shoes as part of the organization’s outreach.
