Red, White and Vroom will light up Port Clinton with Fourth of July celebrations
There’s likely to be something for everyone at Port Clinton’s annual July Fourth in downtown Port Clinton.
Thousands will flock to Lake Erie’s shores Thursday to take in the sights, tastes and sounds of Red, White and Vroom.
Here's what you need to know:
Squirt gun race returns
It all starts bright and early with the annual Star-Spangled Squirt Gun Run/Walk 5k.
The race features squirt-gun-wielding volunteers along the route, letting participants beat the heat as they celebrate our nation's birth.
Runners and walkers will race along Lake Erie and take in the sights of historic downtown Port Clinton on the 3.2-mile course.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Adams Street near Croghan Bank, with the race starting at 9 a.m.
Preregistration is $25, while day-of registration is $30. T-shirts will be given to all who preregister and while supplies last on race day. Refreshments will be provided, and awards will be presented for overall, age and gender.
All proceeds benefit Port Clinton Women's Club.

Firecracker Cutie, royalty races set at Trinity
Contestants will compete for Firecracker Cutie, Princess, Junior Queen, Queen, King and Most Photogenic crowns at Firecracker Cutie at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams St.
Open to all ages, genders and from all cities and states, the contests will be held at noon. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The cost to enter is $20 before Thursday or $25 at the event.
The Firecracker Cutie contest is sponsored by the Port Clinton Women’s Club.

If all this activity has you hungry, stop by outside the parking lot of Trinity United Methodist for a Food Truck Feast.
Trucks will be open 2-6 p.m.
Enjoy a slice of Americana by taking in the sights of classic vehicles at the Classic Car, Truck and Cycle Show from 2-6 p.m.
Taking place in the 100 and 200 block of Adams Street, classic cars, trucks and motorcycles from days gone by will be on display.
To participate, a $10 donation per vehicle is requested. The show is sponsored in part by Croghan Colonial Bank.
The annual Ice Cream Social will take place inside Trinity UMC from 2 to 7 p.m. The social is sponsored by the Ottawa County Senior Resources and Crosser-Priesman Funeral Home.
2023: Port Clinton celebrates July Fourth with pageant, duckies and fireworks
Choir concert is at 8 p.m. at Trinity
Freedom will ring at the Voices of Freedom Community Choir Concert, directed by D. Gregory Fox, inside Trinity United Methodist Church starting at 7 p.m.
As the sun begins to set, the party will really heat up at the Family Dance Party from 8 to 10 p.m. at Waterworks Park.
The dance party will feature DJ Von and the Port Clinton Lion’s Club Food Wagon. The party is hosted by PortClintonRadio.com.
To cap the evening off, fireworks will light up the sky over Lake Erie beginning at 10 p.m.. The show will be viewable from all along the lakeshore and Perry Street.
