Reba's Emotional Grammys Speech Will Make You Cry
Last night, country icon Reba McEntire took home the Best Roots Gospel Album Grammy Award for her record Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.
In a pre-telecast ceremony, the country crooner, who attended the show with her new beau, took to the stage to accept the award and addressed the audience with a heartwarming and emotional speech that was met with roars of applause. In her teary-eyed speech, Reba, 62, opened up about the sweet story and inspiration behind the album, in addition to the profound effects God and music have had on her life.
The singer started by saying the album had been a longtime coming. "I'm a country artist, but I've been singing the songs that are on this album all my life," Reba said. "[I was sitting] on the pond dam at grandma’s house singing ‘Oh, How I love Jesus,' 'When the Roll is Called Up Yonder,’ and it’s so great to get those songs on an album."
For the country music veteran - whose impressive career spans more than four decades - the win marks a major victory for her lifelong mission in music. "Our job in the entertainment business is to heal hearts," she said. "That's what God put me on this Earth for - I know it is. Music is so healing. I love my job. I'm so grateful to get to do it."
Reba finished by speech by dedicating her album and award to the person who started it all. "I'm gonna give this back to God," she said. Congrats on your win Reba!
