Get ready to rock: Ravenna Rocks series returning to downtown with three concerts
The Ravenna Rocks concert series returns to downtown Ravenna for another lineup of summer music, with three concerts set for June, August and October.
More: Second Ravenna Rocks concert is Saturday, DORA expected to be in effect
The series kicks off June 17 with Cleveland's Rock Bar as the headliner. Opening acts will be Kendall Chalkwater of Ravenna and James Knight, also of Ravenna. Music starts at 4 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m.
The Aug. 12 concert will feature The Full Flavor Experience of Ravenna as the headliner, plus music from the Susan Marie Project from Akron and Lady Lyre from Kent.
The Oct. 7 "Rocktoberfest" will feature Tyrone's Blues Sinsation as the headliner, plus Back Alley Relics and On The Rocks.
Organizers of the concert series said Ravenna Rocks started last year and was well received.
"We had quite a few people ask about it this year," said Jim Wade, owner of West Main Winery, Brewery and Cider House.
Ryann Kuchenbecker, executive director of the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce, said organizers learned ways that this year's concert could be improved.
"It can only go up," she said.
Ravenna's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, which was instituted last year, will be in place for the entire event. All three concerts will feature a cornhole tournament, with teams able to sign up at the winery. A cruise-in will be part of the event in June.
The event is looking for food vendors, sales vendors and sponsors for all three concerts. Details can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website.
