Ready for a date night? Here are 5 spots to consider in Westchester, Rockland
It's the holiday season and you're already feeling overloaded by the commitments on your Google calendar. One way to de-stress? Planning an evening out with your honey when you can relax with a glass of vino, a nice meal and the promise of putting your phones down.
But where to go? I went to the source: Leticia Reyes-James, the Instagrammer behind Westchester Date Night for five of her suggestions. Her ideas follow, in alphabetical order.
Bellacosa Wine & Tapas Bar, Dobbs Ferry
Why she likes it: Most people are unaware of this hidden gem situated beside a pizzeria. It offers excellent Italian tapas, entrees and desserts made from simple, fresh ingredients without the use of heavy creams. The ambiance is curated for intimate date nights, and characterized by low lighting in a cozy, small space. During winter, they even feature a virtual fireplace that adds to the warmth and coziness. The food is fantastic, and the owner, Frank, is incredibly hospitable.Reservation for two: 147 Main St., 914-693-6259 ext. 2, bellacosawinebar.com

Half Moon, Dobbs Ferry
Why she likes it: Nestled near the water, it offers stunning sunset views from both indoors and, come warmer weather, outdoors. Come spring, the outdoor bar is perfect for enjoying cocktails, socializing, and live music. It's the sole spot in Westchester where you can dine with unobstructed views of Manhattan, the Metro North train, and the river. This undoubtedly makes it one of Westchester's most romantic and captivating date night destinations.Reservation for two: 1 High St., 914-693-4130, halfmoonhudson.com
Mentor’s Mediterranean Steakhouse, Chappaqua
Why she likes it: It's chic. It's beautifully decorated. It's a steakhouse with seafood so if you're a steak lover, you're covered; if you're a seafood lover, you're covered. It also has a hopping bar — ambiance means everything — and someone who greets you when you walk in. Even if you've never been here before, Mentor is usually there to greet you at the door. He's fantastic. Plus, celebrities dine here as well. (Shout out to Vanessa Williams and Hillary Clinton sightings.)Reservation for two: 415 King St., 914-861-2386, mentorssteakhouse.com
Six23 Social, Sparkill
Why she likes it: This special spot is secretly accessed by doorbell and password. Inside, you're blown away by a hip, Prohibition-era looking bar with several lounging areas. There's a hidden dining room behind a bookcase, jazzy drinks and live entertainment. It's definitely a good choice if you want to impress a date or transport yourself into a different era. (Worth noting: Lohud was first on the scene to report on!). Reservation for two: 623 Main St., 845-836-3398, six23social.com

The Raconteur Bar & Kitchen, Pleasantville
Why she likes it: This spot exudes sexy, speakeasy vibes with its charming Old World decor and intimate atmosphere. The cocktails are incredible and available by the pitcher — ideal for girls' night or a date. Operating late, it stands out as one of the few Monday options in Westchester.
