Read the Note Gisele Bündchen Wrote to Tom Brady After He Retired from Pro Football
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady has announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 seasons, saying in a Tuesday statement that he's "not going to make that competitive commitment anymore," adding, "It is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention." Following the official news, Brady's wife, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, commemorated his long career on social media.
In a carousel post on Instagram, the model shared a series of highlights from her husband's life in football. The photos included a headshot of Brady holding the Lombardi Trophy from 2021's Super Bowl LV, as well as a shot of the couple out on the field with kids Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake, 12 and 9; and John Edward Thomas Moynahan, 14, Brady's son from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.
In her lengthy caption, Bündchen reflected on their shared moments and lauded Brady for his strength. "What a ride @tombrady ! So many memories!" she wrote. "When I met you over 15 years ago, I didn't know the first thing about football. But cheering for you and seeing you do what you love most made me learn about this wonderful game to the point that I seriously believed I knew more than the referees! We always had a special champions playlist for every drive on our way to the game. As a family, we always prayed for you, celebrated and supported you in every game, cheered every win and suffered with every loss."
She added that she's proud of him for what he's overcome physically and emotionally. "I am in awe of your dedication, and of everything you have achieved. You love what you do, and you leave behind a legacy that is a beautiful example for future generations," she said. "You are the most dedicated, focused and mentally tough person I have ever met. You never once complained over the years about all the bruises and aches and pains. You just kept focusing on your goal to go out there and be the best leader there was to all your teammates."
Bündchen continued, "I know how excited you are about the next chapter of your life. Watching you work so hard in your football career and seeing the dedication you are now putting into all your new endeavors is incredibly inspiring. There is nothing you can’t achieve. I have always been here for you, you know that, and I’m as excited as you are for what the future holds!"
She concluded the note, "Words can't really express how grateful I am to everyone who has been so supportive of my husband and our family for so many years. With all my love, Gisele."
Brady shared his heartfelt response to her in the comments. "I couldn't do it without your love and support!" he wrote back. "You make everyday of my life brighter and more fun and you challenge me to be my best in every aspect of my life. You are my biggest supporter and I love you more than anything in this world ????????."
