Randall Has a Major Breakthrough in the ‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Premiere, According to Sterling K. Brown
This Is Us fans better listen up, because Sterling K. Brown is sharing never-before-heard details about the season five premiere.
The 44-year-old actor recently opened up about the highly anticipated new episodes and revealed that his character, Randall, will have a major breakthrough right off the bat.
“Randall has [what you can almost describe as] a come-to-Jesus moment in these first two episodes that I think is fascinating,” he said, according to Glamour.
Susan Kelechi Watson (who plays Randall’s wife, Beth) chimed in to confirm that it involves the entire family, including the kids: Lyric Ross (Deja), Eris Baker (Tess) and Faithe Herman (Annie).
“When we first got these episodes, it’s like they eavesdropped into people’s lives and things that I had lived or know people lived,” she said. “Beth and Randall’s kids get to see their parents grapple with it. We have an honest conversation.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard details about the upcoming season. In fact, series creator Dan Fogelman previously confirmed the new episodes will tackle current events, like the coronavirus pandemic.
“You’ll see us take on the human experience, and what these characters would be dealing with in the real world, just like we have with addiction, body image, race, Alzheimer’s, etc.,” he said. “I think we’ve taken it on in an elegant way.”
Be sure to tune in to the two-hour season five premiere of This Is Us, which airs on Tuesday, October 27, at 9 p.m. on NBC. *Sets DVR*
