Quentin Tarantino’s Manson Movie Just Got a Release Date & It’s Loaded with Meaning and History
Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Charles Manson film just snagged a very significant release date: the 50th anniversary of the Manson Family murders, reports Variety.
While most are undoubtedly familiar with the brutal murders that took place on August 8-9, 1969 (most famously of pregnant Sharon Tate) at the hands of a group led by Charles Manson, the yet-to-be-titled film’s IMDB page explains that the movie will not be a Manson biopic. Instead, the plot follows “a TV actor and his stunt double…on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry during the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles.” And Tarantino specified last month, “[The film’s] not Charles Manson, it’s 1969.” Duly noted.
Some speculate that, like Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds, this Tarantino project will be a cathartic rewriting of history in which victim Sharon Tate (played by Margot Robbie) gets her vengeance. We wouldn’t mind seeing that version of things come August 9, 2019.
