More than 20 years ago at the 1996 Met Gala, Diana wore a dark navy Dior slip dress with lace trim that only accentuated the dress's spaghetti-strap design. The lingerie-inspired look was from John Galliano's first couture Dior collection, but Diana made it her own by pairing it with a chunky pearl and sapphire choker.
As fashionistas know well, Met Gala events are themed. The year Diana attended was a tribute to Christian Dior, so her look was extremely fitting.
