When model Lady Kitty Spencer married retail tycoon Michael Lewis it was always destined to be a fashionable affair. And the 30-year-old daughter of Princess Diana’s brother pulled out all the stops when it came to creating her dream bridal outfit—or indeed outfits.
Of course it helps when you happen to be a global ambassador for luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana who, crafted a “number of “exclusive hand-made gowns” for Kitty to wear throughout the three days of celebrations. Beginning with a baby blue tulle dress embroidered with flowers that she wore on the eve of the wedding, she then chose a Victorian-inspired high neck lace gown for the ceremony.
After saying “I do” she changed into a silk gown with flowers and crystals which she was pictured wearing during an appearance on the balcony of the spectacular venue - Baroque Villa Aldobrandini overlooking Rome. Three further gowns were also featured in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday by Dolce & Gabbana, highlighting how each dress celebrated “the beauty of the bride, the passion for Alta Moda and the absolute joy of the occasion.”
“Kitty is in love with our beautiful country and its rich history, art and culture,” Domenico Dolce told Tatler. Stefano Gabbana added, “But she is also a girl who is very attached to her origins, to England; to her heritage of the great Victorian era. And like all the English people, she has a great passion for all kinds of flowers.”
The bride did not wear the famous Spencer Tiara worn by her aunt Princess Diana for her wedding to Prince Charles. Her father Earl Spencer was not there to walk her down the aisle and the honor instead fell to her brothers Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp and Samuel Aitken. In the run-up to the wedding Kitty posted several images on social media enjoying herself in Florence with friends.
