Princess Beatrice's Stunning Wedding Dress to Go On Display at Windsor Castle
Following in the footsteps of other recent royal brides like Princess Eugenie and Meghan Markle, Princess Beatrice is putting her wedding dress on display at Windsor Castle later this fall.
Earlier this summer, the Queen's granddaughter married her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, with only close family in attendance. When she tied the knot, Beatrice wore a vintage Norman Hartnell design, which she had borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen.
The dress was altered to fit Princess Beatrice, and the design was slightly modernized. According to a release announcing the exhibition: "The full-skirted silhouette was softened to give a more contemporary, simplified shape, and the underskirt and petticoats were recreated and bound with silk tulle. Short sleeves of triple organza were added to the straps and embroidered with vintage diamante?s to match the original Hartnell embroidery design."
Additionally, "Each alteration made to the dress is reversible."
Alongside the gown, a silk replica of Princess Beatrice's wedding flowers will also be on display. Her bouquet included trailing jasmine, pale pink and cream sweet peas, royal porcelain ivory spray roses, pink o’hara garden roses, pink wax flower, baby pink astilbe, and a sprig of myrtle.
But Beatrice's wedding tiara, the Queen Mary Diamond Fringe, which she also borrowed from her grandmother for the special day, will not be part of the exhibition.
A Royal Collection Trust spokeswoman told the Press Association: "It has not been possible on this occasion to display the tiara worn by Her Royal Highness on her wedding day." No other explanation for its absence was given.
Princess Beatrice's wedding dress will be on display from September 24 through November 22. Windsor Castle is open to the public five days a week, Thursday to Monday, and tickets must be booked in advance. For more information, visit rct.uk.
