Prince William Is Releasing a Documentary Series on His Earthshot Prize
Prince William is entering the streaming game to present his groundbreaking conservation effort.
The Duke of Cambridge's first-ever Earthshot Prize will be documented through a five-part series, premiering on streaming platforms discovery+ and BBC iPlayer October 3. The Earthshot Prize: Repairing our Planet will show the environmental challenges facing our planet and the solutions created by scientists and experts around the world, including the 15 first-ever Earthshot Prize Finalists.
"It’s incredible what we humans can build, but we often forget that it comes with a cost. We can create a different future, a better future, but only if we reach for it now," says Prince William in a teaser released yesterday by discovery+.

The teaser also features members of the Earthshot Prize Council, who describe this moment as "the decisive decade" for counteracting climate change's negative impacts on the planet. Among those featured include singer and philanthropist Shakira Mebarak, soccer player Daniel Alves, and filmmaker Sir David Attenborough.
The series will culminate with the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which will be hosted from London’s Alexandra Palace and streamed live on Discovery's Facebook page on October 17. The five inaugural prize winners will be announced, with each receiving £1 million ($1.2 million) to support their groundbreaking initiatives.
The Duke of Cambridge announced the finalists earlier this month in a video shared to him and Duchess Catherine's official Instagram account. The prize will be awarded each year for the next decade, continuing to capture "the best ideas to confront the urgent environmental problems facing the world."
"The plan is to really galvanize and bring together the best minds, the best possible solutions, to fixing and tackling some of the world’s greatest environmental challenges," Prince William said in a video announcing the Earthshot Prize in October 2020. "We've got to harness our ingenuity and our ability to invent. The next ten years are a critical decade for change. Time is of the essence, which is why we believe that this very ambitious global prize is the only way forward."
