Prince William Jokes Kate Middleton Is “Immensely Jealous” of His Latest Trip
Somebody needs some sleep. Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is currently on maternity leave after welcoming Prince Louis in April, but the work never ends for the mom of three.
On Tuesday, Prince William traveled to Namibia for an ocean conservation initiative. While there, he delivered a few remarks that were quite revealing of Middleton’s current state of… well, sleep. “I’m delighted to be visiting Namibia for the first time. I’m only sorry that my wife, Catherine, is not able to join me,” he said. “She is immensely jealous.”
The Duke of Cambridge then followed up: “Particularly, because I’m looking forward to a few good uninterrupted nights’ sleep this week away from my wonderful children.” (The two are parents to recent page boy and junior bridesmaid Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and little Prince Louis, 5 months.)
Prince William will enjoy additional rest while in Tanzania and Kenya during his official visit, which will focus on wildlife conservation efforts. This isn’t his first time visiting the continent. In fact, Kenya in particular is near and dear to his heart.
In October 2010, Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton during a vacation. “I regularly daydream. Africa is definitely one of the places I go to. It does completely settle me down. [Kate] understands what it means to me being in Africa, and my love of conservation,” he told CNN in an interview. “I didn’t really plan it that far in advance. I just knew I wanted it to feel comfortable where I did it.”
Of course, the pair married six months later and are now happily living in Kensington Palace with their three kids. (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a short distance away at Nottingham Cottage.)
Middleton, meanwhile, will be back for her first royal engagement after maternity leave next week on October 2.
