Prince Harry Sent a Personalized Birthday Card to His No. 1 Fan on Her 99th Birthday
Just because Prince Harry is preparing to welcome his first child with Meghan Markle doesn’t mean he’s too busy to honor one of his biggest—and oldest—fans.
Today, the Duke of Sussex, 34, celebrated Daphne Dunne’s 99th birthday with a heartfelt card. According to Hello! Magazine, the note read, “Dear Daphne, my wife and I send our warmest wishes to you on the occasion of your 99th birthday on Friday. We hope you have a wonderful celebration surrounded by family and friends and that you’ve managed to escape hospital.”
The prince went on to congratulate Dunne on reaching this “impressive milestone,” adding, “Congratulations on reaching this important and impressive milestone before your centenary year next year. Happy Birthday Daphne. Best wishes, Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
In an interview with the Today show, Dunne’s daughter revealed that the card lifted her mom’s spirits. “Meghan and Harry have gotten mum through this terrible illness she’s had,” she said. “She’s still very unwell and I think the card they’ve sent means so much. I think it will be the thing that gets her through.”
Dunne has met Prince Harry three times—in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Their most recent interaction took place during the royal tour of Australia, where the duke introduced her to his new wife prior to visiting the Royal Opera House.
Talk about a birthday to remember.
