Prince Harry & Oprah Are Teaming Up to Create a New Docuseries About Mental Health
Prince Harry and Oprah are joining forces for an excellent cause.
The Duke of Sussex and the TV mogul are joining forces to create and produce a multi-part documentary series about mental health.
According to the Sussex’s official Instagram account, the series, which will air on the Apple TV platform in 2020, “will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive.” Welp, we’re sold.
In an interview with CBS This Morning, Winfrey, who attended the royal wedding in May, explained that the collaboration began when she asked the prince what he felt the most important issues facing the world are. “He said there were two,” she noted. “He said climate change and he said mental wellness, mental fitness, mental health.”
Winfrey went on to explain that the project is all about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and “allowing people to know that they are not alone, allowing people to speak up about it and being able to identify it for themselves and in their friends.”
In the same interview, Winfrey also opened up about the media treatment of Meghan Markle, which she called unfair. “I feel that if people really knew her they would know that she is not only everything that we perceive of her as being graceful and dynamic in holding that position, but she just has a wonderful, warm, giving, loving heart,” she said.
Really important work, you two.
