Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Attend Their First Official Event as Husband and Wife
The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex have arrived. Following their whirlwind wedding weekend at Windsor Castle, newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out on Tuesday, May 22, for their first official engagement as husband and wife.
The couple was photographed en route to Buckingham Palace for a 6,000 person garden party celebrating Prince Charles’ 70th birthday patronage celebrations. The Prince of Wales’ actual birthday is in November, but marking this celebration six months in advance is a historical tradition in the face of weather-related concerns.
New wife Markle, 36, was photographed in a sleeved white dress by Goat Fashion, a luxury British label, featuring blush sleeves and a sheer portion of the bodice. She paired her sweet, bridal-inspired outfit with a matching hat.

The newly-minted Duchess kept her hair in a classic, low twisted ballerina bun as she and her husband were photographed leaving Kensington Palace. She was also photographed wearing her three-stone engagement ring from Prince Harry, as well as her new gold wedding band.
The Duke of Sussex was also photographed wearing his platinum wedding band to the garden party. As previously reported, Harry’s decision to wear a band was a unique decision since both his brother and his father do not wear bands themselves.

At the event, Harry also gave a speech in honor of his father. The prince was photographed in a traditional morning suit with a vest, striped pants and a sartorial top hat. He also carried an umbrella in hand.
Markle was surrounded by familiar company as she was photographed laughing with the Duchess of Cornwall.

Princess Anne and other members of the royal family also attended the festivities.
