Prince George Wears Pants Instead of Shorts for the Royal Christmas Card
Kensington Palace released a new portrait of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children this week, which was featured in their official 2018 Christmas card.
Taken by royal photographer Matt Porteous, the Cambridges posed for the fun candid, for which they were all dressed casually, sitting on a bench outside.
Notably, Prince George could be seen wearing pants for the photo shoot, which is unusual for the little royal. Usually, the prince can be found wearing shorts.
When it comes to the festive season, members of the royal family know how to celebrate, and the newly released Christmas card portraits prove it.
As usual, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, baby Prince Louis, who is only seven months old, steal the show in Kate Middleton and Prince William's Christmas card photo. And in particular, it's Prince George's attire that's most interesting, as he strikes a fun pose behind his father. Instead of his usual shorts, the little prince can be seen wearing a pair of blue pants, along with a sweater and wellington boots:
According to People, when it comes to wearing shorts, it's apparently a "tradition in England for young boys to do so, especially in upper-class society." However, as Prince George is so grown up now, especially next to his younger siblings, it makes sense that Kate and William would dress their son in more mature clothing.
This isn't the first time that George has worn pants instead of shorts, either. Back in May, as part of the bridal party at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, Prince George wore pants in public for the very first time, signaling a brand new era for the royal.
For the photo shoot, it just so happens that Princess Charlotte is wearing one of Prince George's old sweaters, which we've previously seen the little prince wearing. This cute detail was spotted by Twitter user @MiddletonMaven.
