Pink Shared a Photo of Her “Thunder Thighs” With an Inspiring Body Positive Message
Pink, 40, just shared an Instagram picture of her surfing with a body positive message.
The singer said God gave her “thunder thighs” because he knew she’d use them.
This isn’t the first time Pink has encouraged self-love.
Pink is once again speaking out about body positivity. On Tuesday, the singer shared an action shot of her surfing a wave, and made some pretty powerful comments about her body in the caption. “I always wondered why God gave me thunder thighs. It’s cause he knew I’d use them,” she wrote in the post, adding a hashtag that reads “strong is my goal.”
Pink’s fans flooded the post with support. “Man I’ll be so stoked when we get away from vanity and start acknowledging the POWER in our capabilities and what our bodies allow us to do!! Grateful for you!????????,” one fan wrote.
“Thank you for sharing such a simple but inspiring message. Love it!” another added.
This isn’t the first time Pink has encouraged self-love. Just last year, she opened up to Billboard about how her body image has changed over the years. When filming the music video for her 2013 song “Just Give Me a Reason,” she recalled going into the fitting thinking she was fat.
“I was so thin,” Pink told Billboard. “That’s what we do to ourselves, and we should stop it,” she said. “And now I’m almost 150 pounds, and I look f*cking awesome.”
In 2017, Pink accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs, and in her speech, she shared how she was teaching her eight-year-old daughter, Willow, to embrace who she is. The singer recalled a time when Willow said she was the “the ugliest girl I know” and looks “like a boy with long hair.”
“I went home and I made a Powerpoint presentation for her. And in that presentation were androgynous rock stars and artists that live their truth,” Pink said. Then, she asked her daughter what she thinks her mom looks like, and Willow responded that she thinks she’s beautiful.
“And I said to her, ‘Do you see me growing my hair?’ She said, ‘No, mama.’ I said, ‘Do you see me changing my body?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?’ ‘Yes, Mama,’” Pink recalled. “‘OK! So, baby girl. We don’t change. We take the gravel and the shell and we make a pearl. And we help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.’”
