Pho Challenge 2 at Hong Meas Restaurant
Up for a challenge?
Take on the Pho Challenge 2 at Hong Meas Restaurant, 418 Quequechan St., Fall River.
On Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 3 p.m., see if you can finish a four-pound, monster-sized bowl of Hong Meas’ pho in 20 minutes.
The fee for contestants is $50. The admission fee is $10, and children under 12 get in for free. So even if you’re not competing, you can still check out the competition.
If you succeed in the challenge, you win $200, plus your $50 back. You also get a “Pho King” challenge T-shirt, and your photo goes up on the wall of fame.
All proceeds will be donated to the Cambodian Society of America.

Sign up for Scottie’s Pub annual golf tournament
Sign-up sheets are now available at Scottie’s Pub, 202 Pleasant St., Fall River, for their annual golf tournament.
The tournament will be held on June 15, and the deadline to sign up is June 1.
Tournament teams are four people.
There will be food and drinks at the pub, immediately following the tournament. Meal choices, included in the entry price, are clamboil or chicken and rib dinner.

New menu item at Casa Ive Dominican Cuisine
There’s a new addition to the menu at Casa Ive Dominican Cuisine, 390 Rhode Island Ave., Fall River.
Try the Dominican yaroa, which is french fries or yellow plantains, with your choice of shredded chicken, ground beef, or pork shoulder, topped with mayo, ketchup, and cheese sauce.
Independence Harbor Sunday brunch buffet
The next Sunday brunch buffet at Independence Harbor, 10 Narrows Rd., Assonet, will be held on May 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a prime rib carving station, and the menu will also include herb-roasted turkey, chicken cordon bleu, baked sole, and zucchini parmesan.
Plus, they’ll have scrambled eggs, deep-fried apple French toast, sausage, baby carrots, and buffets with home-baked breads and pastries, other desserts, fresh fruit, and salad.

Choco-Latte Cafe, 40 6th St., Fall River, has a cookie of the week with a little bit of everything.
Their “everything but the kitchen sink” cookies have chocolate chips, caramel, potato chips, pretzels, and toffee.
Teriyaki steak fries on special at The Bearded Chicken
The Bearded Chicken, 1160 Grand Army of the Republic Hwy., Somerset, has a teriyaki steak fries special this week.
Grilled shaved steak and pineapples are covered in their Bearded Yaki sauce, then topped with American cheese, sesame seeds, and green onions, all served over their fresh-cut fries.
Route 6 nachos at The Galley Grille
Craving some nachos?
The Galley Grille at White’s of Westport, 66 State Rd., has recently added Route 6 nachos to their menu.
These tortilla chips are piled with chicken, mozzarella cheese, corn and black bean salsa, lettuce, tomato, and bacon, and drizzled with a cilantro lime crema.
