Pete Davidson Is Requiring Fans to Sign a $1 Million NDA Before Seeing His Show
Pete Davidson is making fans sign $1 million non-disclosure agreements before they can see his show.
The NDA says that people who attend his show basically aren't allowed to say anything about it, so yeah, it's very intense!
Pete Davidson has done some, er, interesting things at his comedy shows, like walking out of the show before it even starts, yelling at his audience for using their phone, and calling his fans "privileged little assholes." However, things are getting even stranger, cause now Pete is making his audiences sign an intense non-disclosure agreement that requires them to pay $1 million if violated. Which, what? Why??
One fan who had tickets to Pete's show earlier this week posted screenshots of the NDA on Facebook and wrote:
I got an email today informing me that in order to see this show I have to sign a non disclosure agreement. In that NDA the signer CANNOT GIVE ANY INTERVIEWS, OPINIONS OR CRITIQUES about it in ANY form whatsoever including blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or any other social networking. It also authorizes them to confiscate (including seize & destroy the contents of) any cell phones, cameras or PDAs and that ANY BREACH of the agreement will REQUIRE PAYMENT OF $1 MILLION in damages as well as the legal costs. I understood and was willing to consent to the initial request of locking up any phones or cameras brought to the event, but I think this a bit ridiculous and over the top...Don't perform for the public if you don't want people to have an opinion about it!
And yeah, that agreement sounds wild—people are trying to attend a comedy show, not a top-secret meeting. Pete has actually had this show policy for a bit now; according to Consequence of Sound, audiences have had to sign NDAs to see his shows since at least November 7th.
E! reports that fans who refuse to sign the NDA won't be admitted to Pete's show, but will get a full refund. Personally, I wouldn't sign it as there's no way I'm putting $1 million on the line to see an hour of Pete Davidson's standup—if I really want to see some of his jokes, I'm more than happy just googling his old SNL sketches!
