People Are Sharing Common Things A Lot Of Us Say We Do, But Truthfully We Don't Do At All
I love when I come across Reddit threads that are relatable AF. Like this one where u/randomuserhere1 asked: "What do people claim they do but in reality, they don’t?" I did feel a little guilty reading the responses because I know I definitely have said I do some of these things — when truthfully? I don't. Here are some of the responses.
1."Saying, 'We should definitely make plans and get together some time.'"
"It's the end-of-conversation equivalent to 'How are you?'"
2."Re-read notes taken after a meeting, conference, or convention."
3."A shocking amount of people don't wash their hands after using the restroom."
4."If people say they have done their research — they probably have not done research at all. They Googled the very term and read the first three sources they found. We need to trust a scientific consensus more. There are millions of people with slightly different opinions on research and science. If THEY ALL manage to agree on something, you better realize it is something substantial.
5."Actually reading the terms and conditions."
6."They write 'LOL' when they probably didn’t actually LOL."
7."People say they're not a hypocrite. We're all hypocrites in some ways sometimes."
8."Floss their teeth."
"For the longest time, I never flossed — only on occasion like after eating popcorn or something. Starting to floss has made me much more motivated to continue flossing."
9."When people say, 'Tell them I said hi.' Of course, I sure will absolutely do that."
10."Going to the gym past the New Year."
"I work at a gym, can confirm. The gym was absolutely packed two weeks ago and last week, but now, it's back to normal activity levels. Our cancellations haven't even gone up, but sign-ups are also through the roof."
11."I discovered recently that some people say they bathe but don’t use soap in the shower. Like, at all."
"I lived with someone that had a severely bad body odor problem, frequently came home from the gym absolutely stinking, and would sit in our living room perfectly content with this. Upon the really awkward, 'Dude, I'm sorry, you absolutely stink, would you mind having a shower?' He would take one but didn't use any shower gel or anything, and his towel almost made me gag afterward. I don't get it."
12."Actually praying when people say, 'Thoughts and prayers.'"
13."I have seen people not flushing after their business — be it a toilet or a urinal. Disgusting."
14."When people send me TikToks, I tell them I'll watch them later. I never do. Ever."
15."I think most people are much more lonely than they lead on. They like to portray themselves as successful and popular at work or school with interesting friends and an active romantic or social life."
16."Understand how things work in the real world. I mean in a simple sense. I know a lot of people who can't seem to grasp the small functions of things but think they understand everything while being so off about everything."
17."When people say, 'I get it.' They say they do, but they don't. They just don't get it."
18."The people who tend to talk about sex the most are the ones who aren't having it."
19."When people say, 'I'll text you when I get home' — usually, they don't."
20."Young couples who claim to have bought their houses by themselves. Almost always there is a parent who’s helped out."
21."Share how they really feel. The standard greeting is, 'Hi, how are you?' Yet, if answered with any variation other than 'good' — it seems to be considered rude."
22."Judging others. We as a species have judged others as a means of survival. It’s literally human nature. Those who are ~good vibes only~ are the most judgmental people I’ve ever met."
23."Take the advice they asked for."
24."Anyone claiming that they 'don’t like drama.' You are the drama."
Is there anything else you could add to this list? If so, tell me in the comments below!
