Internet Appalled After Discovering How Much Sugar Is In McDonald's Sweet Tea
Hold on to your hats, folks. If you're a frequenter of McDonald's you'll want to tune in to what I'm about to say because you may want to pull back on the amount you sip on this popular drink from McDonald's.
If you love heading to the Golden Arches to pick yourself up one of those deliciously sweet cups of sweet tea, you may be surprised to know how much sugar is actually in each cup. And according to a video posted by TikTok user @gia2bad, it's probably much more than you expected.

While the iconic brand is absolutely known for delivering a sweet and memorable taste with the in-house brewed sweet tea, Gia has sent the internet into shambles with the revelation of how each batch is made. Captioning the video with "Yes we use a whole bag sometimes 2," the video — which has garnered 1.5 million views since its posting a few weeks ago — has made everyone's jaw drop. And of course, TikTokers did not waste any time weighing in.

"It’s so good I don’t even care it’s [not] healthy because it makes me feel good to drink it," one person said. "Not to mention the nasty water from the sink! I only use filtered water for cooking and drinking! Glad I don’t drink the tea! Lol" said another.
Though the brand's website has the nutritional facts for all of their drinks readily available (a large sweet tea boasts 40 grams of sugar, while a medium offers up 29 grams), somehow, seeing the tea actually being made through video has shocked fans to no return. And, even caused those who work at other fast-food restaurants to chime in, too.

"I use a whole bag of sugar when I brew tea at IHOP. If it’s to sweet order unsweet and put in your own sugar," one person noted while another said, "Zaxby's does one bag too? What’s the problem?" And according to workers who left comments, KFC, Taco Bell, Waffle House and Dairy Queen all use similar amounts as well.
So, there you have it folks. If you've ever felt that the sweet tea at Mickey D's was...well...a little too sweet, this may be the reason. But if you're one of the people who enjoy sipping it just as it is, enjoy!
