Paulina Porizkova Is a 'Strong Goddess' in White Gown With Cutouts
Paulina Porizkova opened up about her marriage with late The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek in an Instagram post celebrating her emotional growth.
The 58-year-old shared a photo of herself wearing a stunning white gown featuring a cutout on the left side of her abdomen, showing off her toned body. She paired the photo with a candid caption, revealing what her final years with the musician were actually like.
"I have now often been asked how I forgave. How come I’m not bitter about the things that happened. How did I manage to move on," she started off the caption.
"Almost four years ago, my husband died. He disinherited me in his will after 30 years of marriage, while I was nursing him back to health. Every day we would chastely kiss goodnight and retire to separate bedrooms, as we had for three years. We were separated and were going to start divorce proceedings as soon as he got back to health," she revealed.
Porizkova continued, "I had fallen in love with someone else, who left me while I was still drowning in grief for my husband, because (in his own words) he didn't have the fortitude to stay with me. Oh, and Covid was raging. All this is nearly three years ago."
She revealed that she managed to "stand back up" through her "survival" of the challenging situation.
"I was left bleeding on a battlefield. At first, I could only ball myself into a tender little ball of pain and blame. I could armor up against the world so no one could hurt me again. But that would also mean I’d stew in my own little carapace. I'd be forever alone with my pain," she recalled.
Porizkova continued, "I'd be a victim of my circumstances and my own inability to get out. Or I could fight. Cast off my broken armor, stand up and fight armed only with my knowledge and the courage to be knocked down over and over."
The model closed her message with some advice for fans: "We will all face adversity at some point in our lives. We cannot chose or escape it. The only thing we CAN choose is how we face it. You can be a victim—or a warrior."
Her journey was championed by friends and fans in the comments.
"Cheers to being a beautiful warrior, standing strong like a Statue of Liberty, beaming its light strong and giving direction and hope to so many!," wrote actress Katarina Morhacova. "Paulina. ?? Many of us understand more than I think you’ll ever know. Love and compassion can be isolating, but we see you," added Irish TV personality Ma?a Dunphy.
"It sounds like you found someone to hold your sword so you can take pictures & enjoy life. This brings me joy!! ?? #goddess #warrior. You were meant to share your experiences, just as you are…?? You inspire so many people in the way you understand your life. Thank you for being this open for all of us," shared a fan.
Porizkova's newfound confidence also comes nearly five months after she hard launched her relationship with TV writer and producer Jeff Greenstein on Instagram. Since then, the couple has posed for many photos together on social media, celebrating their love.
