Participate in our Columbus Dispatch reader poll to find central Ohio's favorite fries
French fries: they're lots of people's first favorite food, and our love of them doesn't diminish much through life.
Reader's Digest, which used data from Grub Hub to determine what people crave, puts fries at No. 5 on its list of America's top 50 favorite foods, and variations of your basic Russett shoestring, crinkle-cut or steak fry rank pretty high, too. Waffle fries were No. 15, cheese fries were No. 24, and sweet-potato fries were No. 44.
The Dispatch and other USA TODAY Network newspapers around the country are asking our readers to choose their favorite local fries. The Columbus winner will be part of a USA TODAY feature story later this summer.
Our nominees are listed below, although we've created space for you to write in a favorite that's not included. We've included only locally owned businesses and left off fast-food fries. Sorry, Wendy's: You fit the former category but not the latter.
We're also sticking in this vote just to fries. Greek fries, parmesan fries and truffle fries count, but we're not voting on loaded fries or fry-centric dishes like poutine or steak frites. (Feel free, though, to email me at [email protected] about your favorite loaded fries or tell me about them in the comment sections on social media. One, that will be a future story, and two, I really want to know.)
Editor's note: We've closed the poll as our voting period has ended. Check back next week to see the results!
