Paramount+ is Offering a Month-Long Extended Free Trial Right Now
Advertiser Disclosure: At Slickdeals, we work hard to find the best deals. Some products in our articles are from partners who may provide us with compensation, but this doesn’t change our opinions.
For a limited time, Paramount+ is extending its free trial from one week to one month. Both the $4.99 and $9.99/month plans are eligible for the promotion – although you’ll have to use coupon code EVIL at checkout to apply the extended trial length.
The promotion does not have a clear end date, so take advantage of the offer while you can. If you don’t plan on continuing with the service, you’ll need to cancel your subscription before the trial expires, otherwise you’ll be on the hook for the normal monthly payment.
Paramount+ Tiers Explained
Here’s what you need to know about the “Essential” and “Premium” plans currently available:
Paramount+ Essential
$4.99/month
Thousands of TV shows and movies available for streaming
NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues live
Supported by ads
Access to national news network
Paramount+ Premium
$9.99/month
Thousands of TV shows and movies available for streaming
NFL on CBS, top soccer and other sports
No ads (except for live TV and a few select shows)
Local and national news networks
Local CBS station live
Ability to download and watch your shows
Regardless of tier, you can save a bit of cash by purchasing an annual plan – which saves $4.17/month for Essential and $8.33/month for Premium subscribers.
Which Paramount+ Subscription is the Better Value?
While it’s great to see the Essential plan lower its cost, the loss of local news and several sporting events could be a dealbreaker for some viewers.
Of the two plans currently available, the Premium tier is no doubt the better deal for sports fans – especially if you opt for an annual payment. For just a few extra dollars a month, not only do you gain more live TV options, but also the ability to download and watch shows without an internet connection.
Here’s How Paramount+ Stacks up to the Competition
Paramount+ isn’t the only streaming service to offer an affordable, ad-supported version of its platform. Both Hulu and Peacock offer similar plans, and deciding which is best for you comes down to personal catalog preference, whether you need access to live TV and if you’re interested in checking out live sporting events.
Peacock
Peacock Premium costs $4.99/month, is supported by ads and offers access to live sports such as the Premier League and WWE. Jump to the Premium Plus plan and you’re looking at a monthly fee of $9.99 – although you can stream ad-free and watch select titles offline. Compared to Paramount+, Peacock seems to offer a bit more live TV for your money, although you’ll want to check out its streaming catalog before deciding whether it’s the right fit for your needs.
Hulu
A basic Hulu plan starts at $5.99/month and gives you access to a massive streaming catalog of TV shows, Originals and movies. Its ad-free plan is a bit more expensive than both Peacock and Paramount+ at $11.99, but it arguably has the most compelling catalog of the group. Hulu also offers a $64.99/month plan that gives you access to more than 65 live channels – an offer you won’t find from either service listed above.
