This Pageant for Girls with Disabilities Is the Best Thing You'll Read About Today
Many people, ourselves included, have not-so-positive opinions about traditional beauty pageants.
One South Florida pageant, though, is making us reconsider. Miss Arc Broward, now in its sixth year, was established to empower young women with disabilities. It's hosted by Arc Broward, a nonprofit that works with the community to change how people with disabilities and other life challenges are embraced and included. So cool.
On Sunday, November 11, 20 young women, ages 6 to 17, will take the stage and display their personalities and talents in an accepting and supportive environment. Through talent, personality and evening wear presentations, the young women learn the importance of confidence and empowerment.
If you're in South Florida, tickets to the Miss Arc Broward pageant are available online for $15. If you're not in South Florida, you can support the work Arc Broward is doing from afar. Because if the pageant is any indication, it's really good work.
